“The Territory We Want” Project: Applications Open Until 31 October for the Youth Call Supporting the Inner Areas of Cilento

Applications are open until 31 October 2026 for the Youth Call of the The Territory We Want project, promoted by the Italian Association for Sustainability Science (IASS) and co-funded by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) under the SNSvS6 – Sustainability Drivers public call, in support of the implementation of the Italian National Sustainable Development Strategy.

The Youth Call is aimed at young people under the age of 35, including university students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, recent graduates, PhD candidates and young professionals interested in contributing to the sustainable development of Italy’s Inner Areas, with a particular focus on the Inner Cilento area.

The programme offers participants the opportunity to join the project’s Youth Community, take part in meetings and local engagement activities, and develop project ideas addressing sustainability, the environment, health, services, slow tourism, the bioeconomy and local development.

Among the planned activities is the Outdoor Enhanced Slow Hackathon, a programme combining training, exchange and practical experimentation to foster innovative ideas and solutions for the local area. Participation in the final stage of the Hackathon is subject to the selection process established by the project.

Young People and Local Communities: Building New Opportunities Together

The The Territory We Want project aims to develop and test innovative models of collaboration among public-sector bodies, private organisations and civil society actors at the local level. Its objectives are to strengthen local sustainability governance and empower younger generations to act as agents of change.

Inner Areas and Protected Areas provide valuable settings for testing sustainable and inclusive development pathways through dialogue and cooperation among institutions, universities, businesses, associations and local communities.

Alongside the Youth Call, the project also includes a Call for Partnership, open to public bodies, organisations, schools, businesses, associations and other stakeholders interested in contributing to the territorial network and collaborative sustainability initiatives. Applications to join the Project Community are open throughout 2026.

How to Participate

Applications for the Youth Call are open until 31 October 2026.

To find out more about the initiative and learn about the project, visit the official The Territory We Want project page on the IASS website.
